In this Talk and Q&A session, we’ll explore the concept of “saṃskāras” and how the various spiritual technologies found in the yoga tradition help to transform the trajectory of our lives by changing these habituated modes of experience. This is a central topic that helps us to understand the relationship between theory (or philosophy) and practice in the yogic tradition.

This event offers a glimpse into the themes and approaches explored in the full course on “Yogic Technologies” beginning October 29th, and it offers all participants an opportunity to get their questions answered, and to learn about whether either the Fall Sādhana or the year-long Sādhana School is for you.

In the forthcoming 8-week Sādhana, we’ll begin by discussing how the term “yoga” has evolved from its ancient roots to its modern interpretations, providing an overview of key historical and philosophical foundations. This will set the stage for a deeper exploration of the many branches of yoga, as expressed through a variety of different Sanskrit texts. We’ll also introduce various dualistic and non-dualistic philosophies, and discuss how these ideas inform both classical and contemporary yoga practices.

In this interactive event, the theory of saṃskāras (and learning about the spiritual technologies that transform them) will help you discover whether the forthcoming process of study and practice is for you. We’ll answer your questions about the full curriculum and how it can support your contemplative adventure, whether you’re a student, teacher, or a seeker of wisdom.

Facilitated by Jacob Kyle, Founder and Director of Embodied Philosophy.
